Thursday 23rd April 2015

As the sales of Barry continued into April we have seen many more sales of this cute little bear and again would like to thank all of you for supporting our charity. Barry is still available for a limited time so if you haven't ordered your one to keep yet please visit the merchandise page on our website.

This month has been a busy month flying for our pilots - Adrian, Sammi and James - as the Malibu was having its major maintenance done and Sammi dedicated a lot of her time to help out with our fundraising. Some of our flight destinations included Port Macquarie, Lismore, Dubbo, Nyngan and Narromine with our pilots working hard on occasions as a number of days included storms to navigate around. As part of the Nova 969 and Little Wings campaign, we also welcomed a trainee co-pilot named Barry who helped with various cockpit duties and provided some light entertainment in the passenger cabin!

Regards, Little Wings Team

Upcoming Event - Ride For Flight

The Little Wings Ride For Flight will be kicking off from Nambucca Heads RSL Club NSW on Thursday 30 April 2015 and will travel 350km north, finishing up at Tweed Heads Bowls Club on Saturday 2 May 2015.

The ride will take 3 days to complete and will be taking in some of Australia’s best countryside but more importantly, riding through towns and communities where the Little Wings service has assisted sick children and their families.

It's not too late to show your support, either by riding or attending the dinner on the Saturday night.

Our Newest Team Member - James

We'd like to welcome our newest volunteer pilot to the Little Wings family. "I started flying 17 years ago with my private pilots licence but over the years I have added an instrument rating, multiengine rating and commercial licence.

I am British although my wife is Australian and we had always planned to raise our children here. We have two sons and a daughter, who are 6, 4 and 1.

As our family grew, the difficulty of recreational flying started to increase. Sometimes it is easier to control the aircraft from the cockpit than a toddler from the back seats! So when I moved to Australia a year ago, and learnt about Little Wings, I was keen to contribute to a great cause where I would assist local people whilst exploring New South Wales.

Whether it be fund raising, flight planning, ground transportation, business management, weather risk management or flying the aircraft, the Little Wings team work together to make the mission possible and it's exciting to be part of a team that can do this."

RMA Donation

During March we had the pleasure of meeting representatives from Running Mums Australia (RMA) at the Little Wings hangar. RMA is a nationwide network of women who love to run - they have over 8,500 members.

Nicole Bunyon, founder of RMA, presented us with a cheque for $2,500. Thank you so much to RMA for their kind donation.

Cash Housie Sessions

Weekly we run over 10 sessions of Cash Housie. Without the money we raise from our Cash Housie activities we would not be able to help as many children and their families.
